Design of Field Assembly Tooling
HyAxiom ships their fuel cells to customers on trucks and cargo ships. Due to the width dimensions of these modes of delivery, the exhaust and intake hoods that stick out on the side of the fuel cell need to be installed separately. When the fuel cell arrives at the customer location, the intake and exhaust hoods need to be installed as soon as the tarp comes off the fuel cell to prevent the open ducts from being exposed to the elements. The size of the service lane, as well as installation on top of skyscrapers and in parking garages limits the ability to use forklifts or cranes to install the hoods. Additionally, HyAxiom would like to not rely on scheduling these machines to install the hoods, and just be able to install with field assembled tooling that would ship with the hoods themselves.
