Toilet Lift Assist Device
The SedMed Toilet Lift Assist is a gas spring powered toilet seat lifter that mounts directly onto any toilet and provides up to 80% assistance in raising a user’s bodyweight on and off the toilet. While the device is extremely promising, future customers have shown a strong desire for a data collection component. The goal of this project is to integrate sensors into the Toilet Lift Assist device to integrate data collection, monitoring, and alert systems into the lift assist. These sensors will be responsible for collecting and tracking frequency and duration of use. Additionally, the device must be able to detect falls and send alerts to the caregiver when any of the criteria are triggered.
Our team collaborated with Electrical and Computer Engineering 27 on this project.
