The Connecticut Department of Transportation designated Bridge No. 00250 on I-95 in East Lyme to be unsafe and in need of a full replacement along with improvements to entrance and exit ramps on Interchange 74. The main tasks assigned by Lochner include the design of girders, bearings, and substructure. Other responsibilities include loading calculations, deck design, runoff/drainage considerations, and a bill of materials. Using American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) LRFD Bridge Design Manual and the Connecticut Department of Transportation Drainage Manual, the team was able to complete all design tasks as well as present in depth CAD drawings of designed members.
