T06- Replacement of an abandoned railroad bridge with a new bridge
Located in New Haven, Connecticut, the Belle Dock bridge runs over the Mill River. Currently, the bridge is abandoned and has not been in use since the 1960s. The Project’s objective is to replace the abandoned bridge in the same location and have it reserviced for freight transportation. The location of this bridge features a thriving industrial sector which will benefit from the replacement of this bridge. Additionally, the relative location of the bridge (being located between two major cities: New York and Boston) means the replacement of this freight line will bring in an inflow of wealth into the economy, as well as improve development in the City of New Haven. The replacement of the bridge will not only reinstate the use of the freight line but also improve the aesthetic of the area, and economic activity within this industrial region.
