FarmOS Digital Grazing Plan

farmOS is an open-source farm management platform built on Drupal that helps farmers organize and manage operational data such as crops, livestock, and field activities. Our project improves the grazing management capabilities of farmOS through the development of the farm_grazing_plan module. Rotational grazing is an important agricultural practice that promotes soil health, pasture productivity, and ecological sustainability, but it requires careful tracking of animal movement, grazing duration, and pasture recovery time. Currently, creating grazing plans in farmOS requires farmers to manually create several related records such as animal assets, location assets, and movement logs before a plan can be generated. This workflow is repetitive and time-consuming for each field, increasing the risk of inconsistent or incomplete data. The farm_grazing_plan module streamlines this process by introducing quick-entry planning tools that simplify the creation and management of grazing schedules. The system will also provide a table-based planning view that allows farmers to easily visualize, modify, and adjust grazing timelines.
