Realtime Data Monitoring Solution for Electric Vehicles

The majority of electric vehicles rely on lithium-ion batteries. At the University of Connecticut, these batteries power the Formula SAE (FSAE) EV racecar – a formula-like car that students design, build, and race every year. One of the team’s largest pain points is getting data off the car in real-time. Their current workflow is as follows: drive the car, the on-board logger collects sensor data, finish driving, offload data from the car, then analyze it. Our senior design project aims to improve FSAE’s workflow. With our solution, the team will be able to collect and analyze live data from the car in real-time, fully visualized on a dashboard. Additionally, we offer a device that will detect early anomalies in the car’s battery and notify the team accordingly. This will allow FSAE to make real time decisions during racing and streamline their testing workflow.
