AI for Automation of Modeling and Simulation Workflows
This senior design project proposes developing an AI tool to automate modeling and simulation (M&S) workflows in MATLAB/Simulink. Users will provide text prompts describing a simulation scenario or problem, and the AI will interpret the request, determine relevant parameters, generate simulation scripts, run optimization tools, and execute simulations in MATLAB/Simulink. The system will then analyze results and generate a summary report. The AI is envisioned as an agentic or multi-agent system (MAS), with students selecting the AI framework and developing the simulation model and scenario scripts. This project also considers AI risks such as data security and explainability, avoiding cloud-based generative AI tools and instead using locally deployable systems running on a workstation or internal server behind a firewall.
