Open Source Design of Environmentally Controlled Incubators for Growing Marine Microalgae
This project proposes the design and implementation of a streamlined, consolidated power and control system for an environmentally controlled microalgae incubator. The project goals include reducing three separate power cords to one, enabling bidirectional current control for the thermoelectric cooler (TEC) using +12V and -12V, and synchronizing LED illumination cycles with heating and cooling demands. This redesign improves reliability, simplifies assembly, and supports open-source reproducibility for future research labs.
Our team collaborated with Mechanical Engineering 64 on this project.
