SedMed Hip-Height Extender
Team ME03 is developing an attachment that works with the existing SedMed Lift Assist to improve accessibility for patients recovering from hip replacement surgery or for patients that are taller. There will be two device acts as one as a height extender and one as angled seat. The height extender will be used for taller patients, helping them sit and stand more easily. The hip-extender helps reduce how much patients need to bend their hips when sitting down or standing up. The attachment is designed to securely connect to the current SedMed Lift Assist without requiring any modifications. It uses a simple mounting mechanism that allows nurses or caregivers to quickly install or remove the device when needed. The design also focuses on being stable, easy to clean, and compatible with the existing SedMed system, while supporting the needs of both patients and healthcare staff.
Our team collaborated with Mechanical Engineering 49 on this project.
