Senior Design 2026 - Mechanical Engineering Team 07
This project's objective is the development of an in-house manufacturing process for a special clip, focusing on the end-to-end development of a repeatable die forming process. This project involves designing, fabricating, and validating multiple die configurations capable of forming the target profile with control over dimensional accuracy, material thinning, and post-forming springback. The work requires CAD driven die modeling, additive manufacturing of prototype dies using high-resolution 3D printing, and iterative deformation trials using aluminum sheet metal as a proof of concept prior to transitioning to final metal forming operations in hardened steel tooling.
