Each year in April, the UConn College of Engineering proudly hosts Senior Design Demonstration Day, our signature event that showcases the incredible talent, dedication, and ingenuity of our graduating seniors. It is more than a capstone project – it’s a culmination of years of academic preparation and a launching pad into the professional world of engineering.
Senior Design is where theory meets application. Over the course of an academic year, our students work in teams under faculty mentorship and in collaboration with industry sponsors to solve real-world engineering problems. These projects mirror the kinds of challenges they will face in their careers, from developing medical devices and renewable energy systems to optimizing manufacturing processes and designing autonomous vehicles.
Through this process, students gain essential hands-on experience in teamwork, innovation, project management, and technical communication – skills that are critical in today’s ever-evolving engineering landscape. For many, the experience is transformative, helping solidify their confidence and readiness to enter the workforce.
Senior Design Day is a celebration of their journey, and I invite you to explore their projects, ask questions, and witness first-hand the power of UConn Engineering education in action.
