Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00853
This project focuses on the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00853, which carries State Route 16 over the Salmon River in East Hampton. The bridge is a two-span (63’- 63’) structure with concrete encased rolled steel girders and a cast-in-place concrete deck. It provides two lanes of bi-directional traffic, with an average daily traffic of 6800 vehicles in 2020. The new proposed bridge design is a single span (152’) bridge, consisting of six steel plate girders with a composite deck slab and new integral abutments. Our role in this project was to perform several analyses pertaining to the bridge’s construction, report on important topics concerning the bridge’s construction, and form a set of 2D and 3D design models. Our report covers our investigations of the following topics: Analyses of the Superstructure and Substructure, Crane Pick Plans, Demolition Plans, Traffic Rerouting, Quantity and Cost Estimation, and an Archaeological Report. We also formed a set of CAD drawings of the bridge, and a 3D render of a model of the bridge in its geographic location.
