ASML is a leader in the semiconductor industry, providing chip companies with all the tools necessary to mass produce patterns on silicon wafers. Their lithography technology is precise and reliable thanks to acute engineering practices. The prevalence of bolted joints in ASML's machines provokes continual improvement and understanding on the subject. In an effort to validate ASML's current analytical methods of bolted joint constructions, the ME05 team has designed and built an impact tester that will impart and measure shock loads as well as measure microslippage in bolted joints.
