Design of infrared and red-light therapy wrap as the most effective treatment method of back-pain/discomfort among active/deployed submariners
Submariners face a unique set of circumstances that affect their cognitive and physical activities due to many factors. During the deployment often the submariners are exposed to overexertion of low back muscles. There is a need for a design infrared and red-light therapy wrap and its validation. The effectiveness of the of designed infrared and red-light therapy wrap will be evaluated by application of devices 1) muscles oxygenations (MOXY), and 2) muscles activity (EMG Delsys Avanti). Outcome: improved body balance by the 4 tests: quiet standing; standing on one leg; standing in tandem, standing from sitting. Measurement of strength gains: grip strength test (Jamar). The proposed project will investigate a novel approach to health and well-being assessments for submariners and will potentially impact other branch specialties of the US Army.
