MBI will partner with a student team to simulate a real-world construction bid and proposal process using a previously completed project: the UConn South West Campus Infrastructure Upgrades (site work portion only). Because the project is on campus, students can easily review the work area and conduct site visits. Students will receive the original bid documents and develop a full cost proposal, including scope review, quantity take-offs, crew development, material and subcontractor pricing, and estimate preparation. MBI will act as the project owner, issuing weekly addenda and responding to RFIs to replicate an authentic bid environment. At the end of the process, the student team’s proposal will be compared to the actual awarded bid. After bidding, students will prepare initial project submittals such as a resource-loaded schedule, material submittals, and relevant work plans. CHRO and MBE/WBE requirements will be excluded for this course project.
