Wireless Telemetry for Formula SAE Race Cars
The project is a joint effort between the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department and the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at UConn. The sponsor, OWL, tasked the team to use their Quackerboard and Duck Management System (DMS) to create and solve a problem determined by the team. Every year, the UConn Formula SAE team builds a race car from scratch to race in competition. This process requires a lot of debugging and optimization, both of which require the data acquired by sensors and the ECU on the car. Currently, this data can only be collected at the end of a drive through a wired connection. In this project, we propose a design using OWL's Quackerboard to wirelessly transmit data in real time via LoRa.
Our team collaborated with Computer Science & Engineering 19 on this project.
