The objective of the ME28 Senior Design Project is to design and prototype a system for deploying capsules from an underwater host in a contested environment. This project is a direct extension of current naval efforts to substitute personnel-based operations for autonomous options that take personnel out of harm's way in day-to-day operations. The proposed system would operate covertly and be capable of remotely deploying payloads at any time within one year of being attached to its “underwater host.” This approach contrasts with traditional, human-operated missions, which require large vessels and extensive coordination. By reducing operational exposure, logistical burden, and response time, the system aims to provide a safer, more flexible, and more efficient method of payload deployment in challenging maritime environments.
