The objective of this project is to design, fabricate, and implement a right-sized auto tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding machine capable of welding JSF sheet metal details that create a larger assembly. ​Currently, Pursuit uses a large, outdated automatic TIG welder that occupies over 36 square feet of floor space. The machine is located on the F100 side of the shop but is used for all automatic TIG welding, including JSF parts produced on the opposite side of the floor.​ The goal is to install a new machine on the JSF side of the shop to reduce production time, improve workflow, and increase overall flowline efficiency.
