U.S. Violent Mortality Dashboard
Currently, there is no unified dashboard that provides accessible, visualized violent mortality data across all 50 states. Kerri Raissan who works for Yale Public Health gave us the task of making this dashboard and collecting all of the data needed for the dashboard under the guidance of our advisor Professor Jonathan Shihao Ji. The dashboard consists of a homepage and 50 state pages. The homepage contains a map which when a specific state is clicked, it navigates the user to the state page. It also contains national data and charts for homicide and suicide firearm vs non-firearm rates. The state pages begin by showing the total number of firearm policies in the state and the governor's political party. Then it gets into the homicide, suicide, and economic metrics. After that theres a detailed breakdown of the specific firearm types of firearm policies for the states and a quick snapshot of the national rates for quick comparison. Finally there are 19 different charts showing different correlations between the collected data.
