Magnet-Based Metamaterial with Tunable Passbands
The objective of this project is to design a tunable devise capable of detecting infra-sound. This devise should detect and de-multiplexing acoustic waves between 0.1 and 20 Hertz. Traditional phonic crystals used to detect infrasound are too stiff to detect acoustic waves below 5 Hertz, however our metamaterial will use nonlinear embedded magnets on an air bearing to allow for a low stiffness between unit cells and therefore a lower passband.
