Design and Optimization of Advanced Aircraft Composite Structure

Our project utilizes the Abaqus finite element analysis software with the goal of generating models of aviation parts for analysis of their composite structure and layup. Using this software, we create the models with the given geometry and then run vibrational simulations to test which composite layups give the most desirable results. This parametrimization of the given part will help to show the sensitivity of different conditions on the vibrational modes. Using these results, we are able to optimize the design by determining which factors, such as the angle of the composite plys, are the most desirable for the most efficient design. Each model and analysis also takes into account several factors, such as strength and stability.
